Tourism Cares Awards $14,650 in Professional Development Scholarships

January 07, 2014 - Tourism Cares, the travel and tourism industry’s leading non-profit organization for preserving and enhancing the travel experience for future generations, is pleased to award $14,650 in professional development scholarships to 16 exemplary current and entering travel professionals who are pursuing travel certificate programs or attending industry conferences. Tourism Cares awards these scholarships to support the growth of a strong workforce for the travel industry. These scholarships were originated by Tourism Cares and by donations from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and members of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA).

In addition to the scholarship, Tourism Cares extends an invitation for all professional development scholarship recipients to attend the Tourism Cares Mentoring Program at the annual NTA/UMA Travel Exchange taking place in February 2014 in Los Angeles, California. This program gives entering professionals the opportunity to shadow professional mentors, build their professional network, and attend educational workshops.
