What is IATAN?
IATAN (International Airlines Travel Agent Network), a wholly owned subsidiary of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), is a not-for-profit organization. It is committed to upholding professional business standards that are widely recognized in the travel industry. IATAN appoints US travel agents on behalf of its customer airlines. Each airline sets its own individual criteria for appointment. IATAN then executes an Agency Agreement between the agent and the airline, which gives the agent the legal right to ticket on that carrier.
What does IATAN need for my agency to be accredited?
IATAN administers two distinctive accreditation programs, one for airline appointed travel agencies holding standard and/or airline ticket stock or capable of e-ticketing, and one for all other categories of travel agencies called Travel Sales Intermediary (TSI) Agencies. Essential to both programs is a set of objective, but appropriate, business standards that travel agencies wishing IATAN's accreditation must meet. Select IATAN Accreditation Program to establish which program best suits your needs.
